A switch that's built to survive in hazardous environmental
conditions: Waterproof, Dustproof, Anti-vibration
Target Markets
Moving Vehicles
Factory Automation
Applications used in industrial and outdoor environments must be able to withstand
the detrimental affects of humidity, dust, vibration, and shock.
Fortunately,
you no longer need to worry about these troublesome factors
for your Ethernet devices.
MOXA now offers IP67-rated products with M12 connectors
that can withstand the toughest environmental factors in harsh
industrial environments. With industrial M12 connectors
and an IP67-rated casing, the Moxa EDS-305-M12 5-port unmanaged
Ethernet switches will keep your industrial networking applications
stable
and reliable.
Tight Plugs for Reliable Connectivity The
EDS-305-M12 switches use M12 (D-coding) connectors to ensure a secure
connection. M12 connectors are well-suited for use in
harsh industrial environments since the robust metal construction
of the connectors ensures a close fit. The
switch can be used in or on any moving object since the M12 connectors
provide better protection
for your industrial
Ethernet connections.
Toughest
Outdoor Switch Available
The EDS-305-M12 has a perfect mix of rugged features. The combination of wide
temperature
operation
(-40
to
75°C), IP67 housing protection, and M12 rugged interface allows the EDS-305-M12
to work
reliably even when
exposed
to extreme
environmental conditions. The switch is a natural fit for all tough workplaces
and outdoor applications, such as in the transportation industry and factory
automation environments. In addition, with its small size, the EDS-305-M12
can be installed
in narrow, out of the way places, making it suitable for wide variety of
industrial
applications.
M12 Connector The RJ45 Ethernet connector has
long been the standard for office networks, but it is simply not
rugged enough for harsh industrial environments. In fact, no universally
recognized standard connector exists for industrial Ethernet applications.
Connector design is influenced by factors such as the presence
of vibration, shock, dust, and moisture. For heavy duty installations,
Ethernet connectors are based predominantly on the M12 form factor.
M12 connectors have a robust metal construction with IP65 or IP67
protection, making this type of connector well-suited for harsh
environments. Current Modbus-IDA guidelines specify that RJ45 connectors
should be used for light duty applications and 4-pin M12 connectors
for heavy duty installations. PROFINET also specifies RJ45 connectors
for light duty applications and M12 or industrial RJ45 connectors
for heavy duty applications.
