Surveillance over Gigabit Ethernet
Networks |
| Industrial Gigabit Ethernet for
transportation system optimization |
In modern transportation systems, traffic
surveillance plays an essential role in both
environmental monitoring and traffic management.
These tasks require the installation of more and
more equipment, such as traffic controllers, speed
detection, emergency IP phones, video cameras and
traffic controllers. As the transportation
networks turn to Ethernet as the main transmission
media for large volumes of data, video and voice
over one network, more bandwidth is required to
ensure real-time monitoring and response. So,
system integrators are looking for networking
products that support larger bandwidths and
greater media versatility. One of the requirements
often used is Gigabit Ethernet, which can be
deployed as a backbone to provide a higher network
bandwidth for traffic surveillance applications
and to ensure that all information is transmitted
smoothly. And because Gigabit Ethernet is based on
Ethernet technology, its migration path is
consistent with the migration from 10Mbps to
100Mbps, and all existing Ethernet and Fast
Ethernet devices are completely compatible with
Gigabit Ethernet. |

Upgrading your traffic network to
Gigabit speeds |
In a transportation surveillance system,
surveillance cameras provide an effective means of
reducing red light violations and improve
transportation safety dramatically as a result.
Busy intersections increasingly implement camera,
timers, and motion detectors to catch and
photograph vehicles that run red lights. In the
event of an emergency, IP phones (Voice over IP)
are also installed to provide onsite communication
with police. Moxa's Gigabit Ethernet switches
provide video, data, and voice communication over
a single network. The EDS-828, a Layer 3 modular
Ethernet switch, and the EDS-728, a Layer 2
modular Ethernet switch, can be used to construct
a Gigabit redundant backbone. The EDS-518A, and
EDS-510A, the Gigabit Ethernet switch, can be used
for a Gigabit redundant subnet. Furthermore, the
EDS-G509, a standard full Gigabit 9G-port
managed Ethernet switch, can be connected to IP
cameras, IP phones, and other bandwidth concerned
devices. Moxa's Industrial Gigabit Ethernet
switches provide traffic system integrators with a
total solution to ensure critical information for
real-time transmission.
