Moxa's full line of PowerTrans series Ethernet switches has passed IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 performance tests conducted by KEMA, a well respected laboratory for consulting, one-stop testing, and certification services in the energy and utility markets.
The KEMA tests were deigned to precisely simulate real substation conditions. All tests for the PT series were conducted in four phases:
Functional tests for GOOSE messaging, VLAN handling, priority tagging, Rapid Spanning Tree, etc.
EMC tests for lightning strikes, thunder, and other electromagnetic interferences.
Extreme temperature tests for temperatures ranging from -40 to 85°C
Mechanical tests for vibration and shock resistance testing.
The successful KEMA test results demonstrate that all PowerTrans series meet IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 standards and attest to the product line's superior reliability for use in complex, high voltage substation environments.
Suitable for Retrofit and Upgrade Projects
These Ethernet switches feature the highest availability for substation communications by offering strong EMI immunity, -40 to 85°C operating temperature, redundant ring structure, and dual redundant power supplies of 24/48 VDC or 110/220 VDC/VAC for complex and high voltage substations. Maximum flexibility is achieved by a modular rackmount design with high optical fiber and Gigabit port density, making the switches well suited for both retrofitting existing substations as well as establishing networks for new substations. Layer 3 switching is supported for better network performance on large-scale substation LANs.
