Feature Introduction Redundant Power Inputs
The EDS-205A/208A unmanaged Ethernet switches provide two power inputs that can be connected simultaneously to live DC power sources. If one of the power inputs fails, the other live source acts as a backup to provide the Ethernet switch's power needs automatically.
Broadcast Storm Protection
Moxa's EDS-205A/208A Ethernet switches are protected from receiving too many broadcast packets. During normal use, broadcast packets will be forwarded to all ports except the source port. However, the EDS-205A/208A will discard broadcast or multicast packets if the number of such packets exceeds a threshold in a preset period of time. When the preset time period expires, the switch will then resume receiving broadcast or multicast packets until the threshold is reached again.
AC or DC Power Input Options
The EDS-205A/208A unmanaged Ethernet switches allow users to use either a 24 VDC or 24 VAC power input. The 24 VAC power input is specially designed for applications in the building automation field where the power input source is often restricted. The EDS-205A/208A Ethernet switches are low-cost, versatile solutions suitable for all industrial applications.
