Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP)
LLDP
is a standard layer 2 discovery protocol (IEEE Standard
802.1AB-2005) that allows network devices to advertise
their identity and capabilities to other directly connected
devices. The LLDP information is stored in the SNMP
MIB for easier network management. With its inherent
diagnostic nature, LLDP can discover and manage accurate
network topologies. Moxa incorporates the LLDP protocol
into all managed switch lines to reduce initial configuration
time significantly and to map network links quickly
and easily. The combination of Moxa's MXview and
LLDP allow our switches to display and monitor Ethernet
components instantaneously.
