Rolling stock applications face many
hardware design and protocol integration challenges and
require a steady, reliable, and uninterrupted platform.
The main applications are responsible for monitoring several
key factors, such as the speed, brake safety system, mileage,
doors and windows, vehicle route, and power; and together
with a multi-task control unit, passenger display system,
and network video recorder, make for a completely integrated
automated system—everything can be monitored from the remote
control center.
An integrated rolling stock application
comprises three main parts: a multi-task control unit/vehicle
control unit, a passenger information system, and a network
video recorder.
|
| |
| Multitask Control Unit |
|
| This application contains a display
panel for the conductor to monitor the vehicle status. The
multi-task unit is a powerful computing platform for connecting
a variety of devices, such as analog/digital I/Os, GPS modules,
and audio devices or wireless modules. It requires a reliable
Ethernet communication network so that all information can
be properly sent and retrieved. In addition, an industrial-grade
computer is required to perform video recordings to enable
real-time monitoring and surveillance. |
| |
| Passenger Information System |
|
| This application requires a powerful
computing unit for connecting display panels tp ensure that
information is promptly displayed. The passenger information
system requires an industrial switch to transmit the information
via Ethernet. |
| |
| Network Video Recorder |
|
| This NVR application requires a reliable
network video recording system that can perform efficient,
real-time monitoring. In addition, it requires an industrial-grade
switch with PoE function to facilitate installation of VoIP
phones and IP cameras since power supplies are usually not
readily available on the train platforms. |
