multiport serial board that puts fiber on the board. This
new and innovative serial extension solution can be used to
extend your serial transmission by as much as 40 km, and gives
users the advantage of not needing to worry about electrical
disturbances over the entire length of the connection.
The CP-102UF smart Universal PCI boards are designed for industrial automation applications that require a long distance, multi-point, PC-based data acquisition solution. The boards are compatible with all popular operating systems, and each of the 2 serial ports support data rates up to 921.6 Kbps. In addition, the CP-102UF boards work with both 3.3V and 5V PCI buses, allowing them to be installed in virtually any available PC server.

can be installed directly in the host control PC without needing
to buy an additional converter, and offers users a more cost-effective
extension solution for long distance communication. In addition,
fiber gives you extra data transmission protection.
Suitable for Long
Distance Applications
With a maximum
data transmission distance of 40 km (single-mode model), the
CP-102UF boards beat the 15 meter maximum for RS-232, and
even the 1.2 km maximum for RS-422/485. For many industrial
applications, an even bigger benefit is that optical fiber
isolates the data from dangerous increases in ground potential,
ground loops, and EMI/RFI electromagnetic radiation.
