Multifunction ATM units in China are already using MOXA's CP-168U V2 as described below. A major system integrator in China selected the MOXA board for its latest ATM design.

A multi-function ATM was developed by a major system integrator in China using MOXA's CP-168U V2. With this ATM design, users are not limited to cash withdrawals, but can perform almost any transaction service imaginable, including cash/check deposit with verification, passbook updating, funds transfer, and statement printout. A camera is installed in each unit to provide additional security. In order to provide all of these services in one unit, the ATM is equipped with many serial devices. Whereas a basic ATM includes a card reader, cash dispenser, touch panel, keypad, receipt printer, and modem, this multi-function ATM adds a passbook printer, camera, and cash deposit unit, for a total of nine serial devices. The devices are managed by a PC, which connects to a network for account processing.

Instantly manage many ATM devices

Since not enough serial ports are built into the PC's system board to control every serial device, MOXA's CP-168U V2 multiport serial board is installed in an open PCI slot. It provides eight additional serial ports, instantly allowing the PC to have direct control of all ATM peripherals without complicated configuration or setup.

High degree of compatibility
The CP-168U V2 supports all popular operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and UNIX. In fact, MOXA's line of PCI boards, which includes Universal PCI and PCI Express boards, have been approved by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Laboratories (WHQL). MOXA's attention to solid and reliable design makes the CP-1068U V2 suitable not only for use in ATMs, but also for POS, kiosk, and machine automation applications.

USB as an alternate solution
Some ATM designs may rely on PCs with no available PCI slots or which have space limitations, such as a thin-client PC. For these designs, MOXA offers the UPort 1610-8, which can be plugged into the PC's USB port to provide eight additional COM ports.
