Real-time ATM surveillance and security system with MOXA

ATMs offer the advantage of 24-hour access, but this advantage can be undone if customers do not feel secure when using the facilities. Most banks rely on surveillance and security systems to provide round-the-clock protection for ATM users. This ATM surveillance system uses a thermal sensor, humidity sensor, and video camera to monitor the ATM facility. A local alarm is used to draw attention to the area when necessary. All surveillance data is monitored and recorded at the control center, which is located at a separate facility. Dual Ethernet connections provide redundancy for extra-reliable communication.

Comprehensive and integrated control
In one package, MOXA's thinkcore IA241 embedded computer acts as the integrated control unit for every peripheral device and manages all communication to the control center. The three serial ports offer independently selectable RS-232/422/485 operation so that almost any type of sensor can be connected. An IP camera is plugged into the USB port for real-time video monitoring. The alarm and security lighting use several of the four digital input channels and four digital output channels. The built-in dual LAN ports manage the redundant Ethernet connections, eliminating the need for a separate switch or hub. Ready-to-run software makes it easy for system integrators to adapt the thinkcore IA241 as part of an existing system or as part of a system built from scratch.

The thinkcore IA241 is especially suited for security applications, which often involve devices that operate outdoors, nonstop, night and day, through all seasons. It is designed for the utmost reliability, using a fanless design that does not require cooling, consumes less power, and eliminates fan breakdown issues. The thinkcore's rugged casing offers industrial-strength environmental protection, and wide temperature models are available that can operate reliably between -40°C and 75°C.

Live video surveillance
To help prevent or respond effectively to criminal activity, real-time surveillance must be a prominent aspect of security. The thinkcore IA241 provides high-performance communication and network channels, giving the control center real-time access to data from all surveillance devices. The control center can monitor the facility live, respond immediately to criminal activity, and activate the security alarm. Furthermore, all surveillance data can be recorded at the control center for advanced processing and storage.

Reliable operating system for easy development
Advanced processing can be provided because the thinkcore IA241 is based on a pre-built, ready-to-run Linux/Windows CE platform. The open programming environment provides the most flexibility for customized security applications. Also, by supporting established operating system platforms, development effort is reduced, and the ability to migrate legacy systems is enhanced.

Redundant networking
Continuous and reliable data transmission is critical for security applications, so network interruptions must be kept to a minimum or eliminated entirely. The network redundancy provided by the thinkcore IA241's dual LAN ports is an excellent measure to ensure an uninterrupted network connection
