European developer uses MOXA in basic ATM
A basic ATM was developed by one of Europe's top ATM companies using MOXA's CP-104UL V2 and CP-102UL multiport serial boards. The ATM relies on a PC and several peripherals to provide basic cash withdrawal service. Six serial devices provide the physical interface and a dial-up connection: a card reader, cash dispenser, touch panel, keypad, receipt printer, and modem. The PC runs custom software to coordinate between these peripherals and connects to a central database to retrieve and provide account information.
Instantly manage ATM devices from a PC

In order for the PC to manage each ATM device, a MOXA Universal PCI multiport serial board is installed, instantly providing the PC with the appropriate number of COM ports to connect to each ATM device. For PCs that require two additional COM ports, MOXA's CP-102UL is used; the CP-104UL V2 is used when four additional COM ports are needed. The developer specifically chose these MOXA boards after an exhaustive analysis of all possible solutions, due to their reliability and cost effectiveness for ATM applications.

High degree of compatibility
The CP-104UL V2 and CP-102UL support all popular operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and UNIX. In fact, MOXA's line of PCI boards, which includes Universal PCI and PCI Express boards, have been approved by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Laboratories (WHQL). MOXA's attention to solid and reliable design makes the CP-104UL V2 and CP-102UL suitable not only for use in ATMs, but also for POS, kiosk, and machine automation applications.

USB as an alternate solution
Some ATM designs may rely on PCs with no available PCI slots or which have space limitations, such as a thin-client PC. For these designs, MOXA offers the UPort 1410, which can be plugged into the PC's USB port to provide additional COM ports.
