System Description
The client had already attempted a PLC-based solution with an Ethernet module. However, it was nearly impossible to guarantee real-time monitoring of so many entrances using the traditional passive I/O approach. Active Ethernet I/O provided a cost-effective, easily-scalable solution for the client's application.
The ioLogik E2210 Active Ethernet I/O server was able to achieve real-time monitoring through pro-active event messages with time-stamp. Since high-frequency polling of every door was no longer required, the main program was much simpler and much more scalable. The software could simply poll each I/O point every ten minutes to verify that the devices were still operational.
The ioLogik E2210 was easily integrated into the airport's existing network systems, and was able to sync its real-time clock with the network time server every ten minutes.
