| For
this project, there are six oil tanks that need to
be monitored in this oil reserve base. Once the monitoring
parameters are transferred from each tank to a PLC,
the PLC will handle the logic control immediately.
The
host computer uses assembly software to collect PLC data to do the on-site monitoring, warning, and data managing. The host computer uses EDS-405-MM and ED6008-MM to form double rings for network redundancy; there are two EDS-405-MM switches in the oil tank area and four ED6008-MM switches in the central control room.
The reliability of Moxa's products, and the variety
of solutions for which they can be used, make
the monitoring
and management
system
more
flexible. Both ED6008 and EDS-405 support the Turbo
Ring function, which is used to establish an Ethernet
redundant ring topology. The network redundancy ensures
that the network connection will not fail due to
a break in the fiber or if the switch fails. Turbo
Ring can automatically transmit over a redundant
path
segment in less than 300 ms, increasing the reliability
of the system.
In addition, the switches support relay output, which
can be used to notify engineers that
the fiber or switches
need to be repaired when a
failure occurs. Engineers can monitor each
port's
link status, each power input's status, and
the health of the Turbo Ring topology. |
