Unlike
office-grade implementations of Ethernet, communication networks for
industrial automation are very critical, since the network is often
used to control and monitor device processes. A breakdown in the communication
link could halt device operation and result in losses to the company
in terms of productivity, quality, revenue, and, most importantly,
customer confidence.
Ethernet Redundancy
with NPort 6000 Moxa's NPort 6000 secure terminal
servers support the STP/RSTP protocols. The combination of STP/RSTP
protocol support and Ethernet or fiber network expansion modules
provide the NPort 6000 with Ethernet Redundancy to help end
users minimize downtime due to any network failure.
Ethernet Redundancy with other brands Applications often implement Ethernet redundancy on a ring topology. In this case, one link in the ring is redundant, and is only activated when one of the other links in the ring fails. A redundant ring can be achieved using NPort 6000s only, or with a combination of NPort 6000s and other brand of switches that support the STP/RSTP protocols.
