Monitoring and Control for Traffic, Parking, and More

There are many ways that traffic flow can be improved through device networking. At busy intersections, IP cameras can be installed to monitor vehicle density or traffic violations. With the UC-7420 embedded computer, the images can be transmitted over the Internet to a remote monitoring center. The UC-7420 can also be used to monitor or control each traffic light at the intersection, independently or with guidance from a control center.

At a parking facility, sensors can be installed to detect whether a space is vacant or not. These sensors can be connected to a UC-7420 embedded computer via a local RS-485 network. The UC-7420 can be programmed as needed to monitor and respond if a space becomes available. For example, LEDs could be connected to the UC-7420 and used to indicate when the space is available. All data can be transmitted over an Ethernet or 802.11 wireless LAN connection to a central computer for tracking, analysis, and control.

Message display panels can be managed and controlled by the UC-7110 embedded computer. With an OnCell G2150I GSM/GPRS modem connected, the embedded computer can report or receive instruction from any location over the cellular network. The thinkcore W300 Series also offers solutions for wireless embedded computing, with built-in support for WLAN or GSM/GPRS modules.
