Traditionally, they relied on a PLC and GPRS modem combination solution. However, this approach caused compatibility issues that constantly created new headaches and hassles. In addition, the existence of dynamic and private IPs complicated their attempts to establish reliable and efficient bidirectional communications. It was possible to use DDNS to overcome dynamic IP issues, but this did not address the private IP problems. Moxa’s GPRS RTU all-in-one solutions completely changed the system integrator’s business. Moxa’s total solutions for GPRS remote monitoring and control allowed them to overcome PLC and GPRS modem compatibility issues. With Moxa’s Active OPC server, the system integrator could remotely manage all of the GPRS I/O devices and use SCADA software to collect data directly from an OPC server. Active OPC server also offers a way to overcome private or dynamic IP issues.

Moxa offers GPRS RTU devices with many different I/O combinations and operating temperature ranges, which gave the system integrator the freedom to choose best-fit solutions. The W5000 series supports DI, DO, AI, and relay output. Each GPRS I/O also includes one built-in 3-in-1 serial interface. Moxa’s wide temperature models feature a wide -40 to 75°C operating temperature range.
