Daisy-chain
Topology Offers Flexible Cabling and Space Savings at
Remote Locations
Moxa's new ioLogik E1200 remote
Ethernet I/O products come with two embedded Ethernet
switch ports that can be used to form a daisy-chain topology
for easy cabling. In a distributed Ethernet data acquisition
application, panels, units, and cabinets are often located
at remote sites where space is limited. The daisy-chain
capability allows ioLogik E1200 units to connect in series
to each other, or to other nearby Ethernet devices, saving
on both space and wiring costs. If an application requires
700 stations with 20 points per station, the reduction
in wiring costs can be as much as 15% of the total implementation.
Push-based Active
OPC Server for Connecting to SCADA Systems
Moxa's Active OPC Server Lite is
a free software package that operates as an OPC driver for
HMI/SCADA systems. General OPC servers typically use a polling
method to connect to Ethernet I/O devices, which send commands
continuously to collect relevant data. Moxa's Active OPC
Server Lite, with its non-polling architecture offers active
(or "push") communication with Moxa's ioLogik
series of Ethernet I/O products to HMI/SCADA systems, providing
instant I/O status reports by using "Active Tags."
Using event-driven active tags results in an I/O response
time that is 7 times faster than other OPC Server packages,
and reduces network traffic by 80%.
User-defined
Modbus Addressing for Painless Upgrades of Existing Systems
To control an input or output channel
of a remote Ethernet I/O device running the most general
Modbus/TCP protocol requires specifying the Modbus address
of those input and output channels. The ioLogik E1200 offers
the greatest flexibility with its user-defined Modbus/TCP
addressing. With this approach, the ioLogik E1200's addressing
is compatible with all other Modbus/TCP devices, and the
channels that are being used can be managed sequentially
and require less polling. |
