Moxa's ioLogik
W5340 Active GPRS RTU plays an important role
in pipeline monitoring systems. The ioLogik
W5340 features GPRS communication, which is
the best choice for monitoring a distributed
system spread out over a wide area. The ioLogik
W5340 comes with 4 analog inputs that can be
connected with flow meters and pressure sensors
to monitor the condition of the pipeline. With
the built-in Click&Go function, only a few
clicks are needed to turn pumps on and off.
If cracks appear in the pipeline or an accident
occurs, real-time alarm messages can be sent
to the control center. In fact, engineers anywhere
outside the control center can still get alarm
messages via SMS and then take immediate action.
The ioLogik W5340 supports Moxa's Active OPC
Server, which not only solves the dynamic IP
issue in GPRS communication, but is also the
best middleware available for communicating
with SCADA systems. Active OPC Server features
a non-polling structure and offers "active"
(or "push") communication so that
SCADA systems can get real-time information.
The all-in-one design of the ioLogik W5340 combines
a GPRS modem, I/O controller, and data logger
function in one device, which not only saves
development costs and maintenance effort, but
also reduces the chance of failures that could
occur when using separate devices.
