Moxa's MGate MB3000 series Modbus gateways
receive Taiwan Excellence and Good Design awards
Taipei, Taiwan, June 3, 2008
Moxa is pleased to announce that our MB3170 and MB3270 Modbus gateways have received the 2008 Taiwan Excellence and Good Design awards. Products are selected for the Taiwan Excellence Award based upon world-class quality in innovation, design, manufacturing, and marketing. In addition, the Good Design Award is one of the highest commendations for a product's design, quality, function, and value-added features.
The MB3170 and MB3270 are advanced Modbus gateways that provide maximum flexibility for integrating industrial Modbus networks of all types and sizes. They are designed to integrate Modbus TCP, ASCII, and RTU devices in almost any master and slave combination, including serial master to serial slave, or simultaneous serial and Ethernet masters. A special priority control feature allows urgent commands to obtain immediate response. All models are ruggedly constructed, DIN-rail mountable, and offer built-in optical isolation for serial signals as an option.
Multiple masters across different Modbus networks
The MB3170 and MB3270 can integrate the Modbus TCP with the Modbus RTU/ASCII without modifying the existing Modbus RTU/ASCII architecture or software. With the serial redirector function, a serial master can maintain direct access to serial slave devices through a specially mapped serial port. This allows the serial and TCP masters to access serial slaves simultaneously.
Smart ID routing connects masters to all devices
with a single connection
The MGate MB3000 series includes smart routing for enhanced compatibility with existing Modbus networks. The smart routing feature was developed to manage slave IDs between Modbus interfaces. A user-defined slave ID table on the MGate MB3000 routes requests to the correct serial port and even allows the use of virtual IDs. Instead of requiring a network socket for each port, a TCP master can use just one socket connection to command serial slaves on every serial port.
Optical isolation, redundant power input, and vertical form factor for industrial applications
Dual power inputs and optical isolation are some of the key industrial features of the MGate MB3170 and MB3270 gateways. If the primary power source is interrupted, the gateways can still receive power through another redundant port. Another good industrial design feature is
the slim case that allows users to conserve a
great deal of equipment storage space. In addition, clients can
choose DIN-rail or wall mounting for the device, depending on their
application needs.
