Moxa UC-8410, a RISC-based high performance, low power consumption, and rich connectivity embedded computer

Taipei, Taiwan, January 23, 2009— Moxa is pleased to announce that the UC-8410 and UC-8410-T embedded computers are now available. The UC-8410 series comes with 8 RS-232/422/485 serial ports, 3 Ethernet ports, 4 digital input channels, 4 digital output channels, a CompactFlash socket, and 2 USB 2.0 hosts.

 

Powerful embedded computing platform
The UC-8410 series embedded computers use the Intel XScale IXP-435 533 MHz RISC CPU. This powerful computing engine supports several useful communication functions, but will not generate too much heat. The built-in 16 MB NOR Flash ROM and 256 MB SDRAM allow you to run your application software directly on the UC-8410 series computer. Furthermore, the 32 MB NAND Flash provides the capacity for data storage. In addition, the UC-8410 series computers support digital I/O and have three LAN ports, making them ideal communication platforms for industrial applications that require network redundancy.

 

Linux 2.6 pre-installed
Pre-installed with Linux 2.6, the UC-8410 series provides an open platform for software development. Software written for a desktop PC can be easily ported to the UC-8410 platform by using a common compiler, with no need to modify the code. This makes the UC-8410 series an optimal solution for implementing industrial applications with minimal cost and effort.

 

Wide temperature models for harsh environment
In addition to the standard model, the UC-8410 series also includes a -40 to 75°C wide temperature model for harsh industrial environments.
