Moxa announces the release of five new multiport serial boards

Taipei, Taiwan, October 03, 2007— Moxa Technologies, the world's top brand of industrial multiport serial boards, announced the release of five new Universal PCI boards: the CP-118U-I, CP-138U-I, POS-104UL, CP138U and CP-114UL.

Smart design
The CP-118U-I is the first serial board in the world to provide eight serial ports that each have a 3-in-1 RS-232/422/485 interface and 2 KV isolation. It is also very compact, about one third smaller than comparable boards. The CP-114UL and POS-104UL are low-profile boards for PCs with small form factors.

High flexibility
The CP-138U-I offers 8 serial ports with an RS-422/485 interface and 2 KV isolation. Integrators can save space, setup time, and integration costs, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership. In addition, different connectors (DB9, DB25) are available to provide the flexibility for a wide range of applications.

With all of Moxa's Universal PCI boards, tight and effective integration is possible due to the Turbo Serial Engine™, the result of 20 years of experience in serial board design. The Turbo Serial Engine provides advanced data transmission, a 128-byte FIFO, and a special Burst Data Mode. When Burst Data Mode is activated, data can be obtained via I/Os in only half the time normally required, greatly reducing CPU loads. In addition, each serial port is able to communicate bi-directionally at speeds up to 921.6 Kbps, for a throughput of over 700 Kbps.

Power for Serial Devices
The POS-104UL is a smart, 4-port board that can provide power to devices over the serial port. 5V or 12V of power can be provided to each port, and integrators can select whether power will be supplied from the bus or from the power supply. This is an especially useful feature for powering devices such as portable scanners for POS or ATM applications. Powering devices through the serial port can simplify device connections and reduce the total cost of ownership.
