Since taxis are an important and convenient mode of transportation in cities worldwide, more and more applications have been implemented to make the taxi business more efficient. One taxi company in Northern Europe has chosen Moxa's EM-1220 embedded module as the main controller in the taxi for connecting a variety of devices.

For this application, the EM-1220 is used to connect a mileage counter through a serial interface. Data collected from the counter can be stored in the SD, and then transmitted intermittently to the control center through the wireless module. In addition, the 8-GPIO design provides flexible connections for different remote devices.
