New firmware has been released for the VPort 351 that enables MJPEG and MPEG4 video encoding. With the V2.0 firmware installed, users can select MPEG4 or MJPEG compression for the VPort 351's video stream. This gives the VPort the flexibility to handle the requirements of different video systems. In addition, the VPort will now be able to support the following items:
- 4CIF (704 x 480/576) resolution
- SNMP (V1/V2c/V3) MIB-II
- QoS (ToS)
- DDNS
- Pelco P, Dynacolor SmartDome drivers for PTZ camera control
- Transparent PTZ Control for camera control by legacy PTZ joystick or controller
- HTTP Action setting for alarm messages sent by HTTP event server
Of the new functions, Transparent PTZ Control deserves special attention. The VPort 351 can establish a transparent tunnel over Ethernet for PTZ control signals by leveraging Moxa's experience with Real COM, our core serial-to-Ethernet technology. The scenario is as follows:

With Transparent PTZ Control, users no longer need to develop a special PTZ control driver for the video encoder. A legacy PTZ controller (e.g., joystick or control panel) that is connected to the VPort will be able to control the remote PTZ camera directly over the Ethernet.
Furthermore, a new version of the Video and Ether Device Configurator is now available. This utility conveniently combines the utilities for both Moxa's EDS switches and VPort video servers. User will be able to manage both EDS and VPort products over the network using a single utility.
The VPort 351 V2.0 firmware and the updated Video and Ether Device Configurator can be downloaded from the MOXA download center.
