Video cameras for security and surveillance applications are often controlled by keypads that are located at a remote control center. If each camera has its own designated keypad, integrating many cameras into an existing system can require significant programming effort. It can be even more difficult if only one keypad will be used to control every single camera.

Using Moxa's DA-660 embedded computer, a factory automation company in Europe successfully combined multiple camera keypads into a single system that could control any camera. The company found that the application could simply be ported into the DA-660. It was then easy for programmers to make the necessary changes to control any camera with one keypad. The was an ideal control unit and easily handled every keypad and camera.
The DA-660 provided the following benefits:
- Lower system establishment costs
- 8 serial ports for multiple connections
- Multi-LAN support for network redundancy
- Easy application integration for reduced programming effort
- Rackmount installation
