VPort 251 video encoder offers IP video surveillance at full D1 resolution in small package

Moxa has released the VPort 251, a compact video encoder that converts analog camera signals into an MJPEG/MPEG4 video stream at full D1 resolution (720 × 480 for NTSC, 720 × 576 for PAL) and up to 30 FPS. It features a small form factor that can be mounted to a wall, panel, or DIN-Rail.

System integrators will appreciate the VPort 251's specially designed hardware features for IP video surveillance applications. A BNC video connector allows the connection of any analog video source, which can be powered through the loop-through power output and controlled through the RS-232/422/485 port. A 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port connects the video source to the network, with video signals digitized and compressed using the MJPEG or MPEG4 codec. The Transparent PTZ feature allows remote PTZ control of cameras over the network without requiring any new hardware or software.

Other features include motion detection, alarms for signal loss, alarm-triggered snapshots, bidirectional voice communication over the network, RSTP (real-time streaming protocol), and QoS for prioritization of video data.

VPort 251 Features

  • Video streams at full D1 (720 x 480) resolution and 30 FPS
  • Bi-directional voice communication over the network
  • Loop-through power output for video cameras
  • Transparent PTZ control with legacy PTZ controller
  • SDK and 4-channel video surveillance software
