The subway system is an important public service that forms a part of daily life for thousands and thousands of people. A subway's tunnel display system can therefore be a powerful application for delivering important information and commercial messages.
A leading system integrator used Moxa's DA-661-CE embedded computer in a subway tunnel display system for an impressive commercial application. In this system, DA-661 units were connected to LED display systems over RS-485. The DA-661 units were ideal front-end controllers for managing bi-directional communication between the control center and the display system. All display procedures were easily and effectively managed over the network. As trains passed through the tunnel, pre-programmed commands were executed to display messages on the LED panels for passengers to view.
The DA-661 provided the following benefits to the subway tunnel display system:
- 16 RS-232/422/485 serial ports for multiple device connections
- Dual Ethernet ports for network redundancy
- Rackmount design and 100 to 240 V AC/DC power input for easy installation
- Fanless design with no hard drive, for longer MTBF
