 The
TCF-142
media converter is now available with SC fiber optic connectors
with a push-pull latching mechanism. This means that users
now have a choice between ST and SC connectors when ordering
the TCF-142. The new SC-connector models will be available
later this month.
The SC connector has been standardized as FOCIS 3 (Fiber Optic Connector Intermateability Standards) in EIA/TIA-604-03. The latching mechanism enables quick insertion and removal while ensuring a positive connection.
The TCF-142 converts between RS-232 or RS-422/485 serial interfaces and multi-mode or single-mode fiber. It can automatically detect the serial baudrate, so data transmission can continue without data loss even if a device's baudrate is changed. For advanced applications, the TCF-142 also features Automatic Data Direction Control, which senses and controls RS-485 data direction automatically, eliminating the need for the handshake signal.
