One of the hottest new computers on the market today is ASUS's Eee PC, which emphasizes ease of use and a lower price. In fact, one of the main attractions for engineers are the Eee PC models running the GNU Linux operating system. However, Eee PC users face the same problem as other notebook users—only one or even no serial port. That's where Moxa's UPort 1100 series of 1-port USB-to-serial converters comes in. Engineers in particular need at least 1 serial port to connect serial devices to their computer, and since the UPort 1100 now supports the Eee PC 701's customized Linux operating system, it's extremely easy to add a serial port to the computer through the USB port.
