PCIe-UART is a new integrated chip that combines a PCIe bridge and UART into a single unit.
2. What are the benefits of PCIe-UART?
2-1
By incorprating this latest technology, Moxa's multiport serial boards are able to outperform traditional boards that use separate PCIe bridges and UARTs. Take the 2-port RS-232 model for example. Compared to the traditional PCIe bridge + UART solution, Moxa's new PCIe-UART increases throughput by 33% and decreases CPU loading by 48%.
2-2
Fewer
components onboard reduce the RMA
rate and risk of chip malfunction.
2-3
Fewer components mean less power is needed.
3. How can I configure settings without a DIP switch and jumper?
Moxa's proprietary software allows users to configure the serial interface and termination resistor without using a DIP switch and jumper.
4. What should I be aware of when selecting a connection cable?
The difference between PCIe and uPCI/PCI/ISA connection boxes is the cable pin assignment. The board-side connector for the CP-118EL/CP-168EL is VHDCI 68, but the C218 Turbo series, CP-118U, CP-138U, CP-168U, and C168H series all use Female DB62 connectors. However, PCIe, uPCI, PCI, and ISA all use Female DB62 connectors for the connection box-side. Therefore, you can use the same connection box for PCIe, uPCI, PCI, and ISA if you use the correct cable.
