Integrated Passenger Information Solution for Rail

Upgrading a Passenger Information System (PIS) on an aging train is subject to many limitations, including space constraints, wiring difficulties, and other costs. Moxa’s ioPAC is an EN 50155 compliant RTU controller with a rich selection of serial, I/O, and Ethernet ports in a compact housing designed for space-constrained onboard environments. It enables the convergence of multiple subsystems, so the passenger information system can integrate track location data, the PA system, LED displays, and train information to give passengers both audio and visual updates about the status of the train.

The integrated ioPAC RTU controller can also collect crucial status information about the train’s doors, HVAC system, compressors, breaks, and lights. This information can help maintenance engineers identify potential problems in a timely manner, which not only reduces maintenance effort, but also provides better availability of service.
