Create a topology plan
The first and the most important step when adopting WiFi is to identify the type of topology that best suits your application. If the applications involve higher redundancy, reliability, and mobility requirements, then a mesh network topology should be considered. On the other hand, if the applications involve fewer wireless devices or the applications are relatively simple and stable, then a hierarchical or spanning tree topology should be sufficient.

For Cellular Applications
 
Choose the right data plan
Data exchange over GPRS or HSDPA networks are charged according to the number of packets that are sent and received. A good way to keep your project within budget is to create a data flow calculation and then use the information to choose the right plan.
 
 
Data throughput calculation
Different data throughputs are required for GPRS and HSDPA solutions. Theoretical data throughput is around 20 to 54 Kbps, and applications that require higher transmission speeds must choose a 3G solution.

Solving the private IP problem
A private IP cellular device will hinder two-way communications between a host PC and remote cellular devices. To solve this issue, users can choose one of the following solutions:
Purchase VPN services from an ISP.
Rent a fixed, public IP address for your cellular devices.
