Moxa's WLAN Solutions
IEEE 802.11 Wireless AP/Bridge/Client

Moxa's AWK series of wireless APs and Clients are industrial grade IEEE802.11 compliant. To satisfy unique industrial application demands, AWK products have the following features:

Wireless Distribution System (WDS)

The WDS provides an easy means for APs to communicate with each other and makes it possible to create a hierarchical wireless mesh network to satisfy the fundamental needs of wireless connection and redundancy.

STP and RSTP

Spanning Tree Protocol and Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol are designed to help reduce link failures in a network and eliminate loops automatically.

Wireless Security

AWK supports WEP, WPA, WPA2, and IEEE 802.11X to provide the most comprehensive data communication security for your applications. IEEE 802.11X allows the APs and Clients to check for login identification. This mechanism eliminates the concern for unauthorized logins. To ensure the security of data transmissions, Moxa's IEEE 802.11 devices support HTTPS and SSH data encryption protocols.

WLAN Turbo Roaming™ for
Non-stop Connection

Many IEEE 802.11 networks have effective ranges of only a few hundred meters, resulting in frequent handoffs and poor performance since mobile communication devices need to reconnect every five to ten seconds. Moxa's Turbo Roaming™ function increases the roaming speed to unify AP channels and avoid wasting channel hopping time while roaming. With Moxa's WLAN Turbo Roaming™ feature, fast Basic Service Set (BSS) transitions between access points, resulting in fast seamless roaming on wireless networks. With Turbo Roaming, the client can roam seamlessly between different access points.

Certified to Meet Industrial Standards

Industrial environments often involve unknown, hazardous factors that can influence the operation of wireless devices. In fact, some factors could cause serious disasters or the loss of life and property. In particular, oil and gas exploration sites, as well as energy field development, production, and transportation facilities face a real risk of explosions. The AWK-3121 and AWK-4121 series have achieved UL/cUL Class 1 Division 2 and ATEX C1Z2 certifications for use in hazardous locations. In addition, The AWK series is compliant with E/e mark for motor vehicles, and is engineered to resist extreme vibrations and shocks based on railway standards EN50155/EN50121-3-2/EN50121-4.

Long Distance Communication

The range of a standard 802.11 wireless network is only 100 to 300 meters. Although this may be good enough for a home or small office environment, larger businesses, industries, and outdoor field applications can require a range of 500 meters or more. Consumer-grade solutions and most wireless access points on the market aren't able to provide this kind of coverage.

Wireless transmissions today are based on the IEEE 802.11 protocols. However, Moxa has adopted an advanced technique used by wireless hardware manufacturers to extend wireless transmission ranges. Moxa's AWK product line offers an easy configuration and proprietary algorithm to improve deployment of long-range point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless networks at a reduced cost, and address issues related to security, reliability, and speed.
