IP Modem Solutions

The OnCell G3111/G3151 is a new line of industrial cellular products from Moxa. These industrial quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz IP modems are capable of transmitting data over GSM/GPRS mobile networks to anywhere in the world. The OnCell G3111 supports the RS-232 interface, and the OnCell G3151 supports RS-232/422/485. In addition, both products have 15 KV ESD surge protection built in, and are designed with an industrial form factor that supports DIN-rail mounting.

Moxa's solutions have advantages over cellular modems that are unable to send messages over the cellular network to the control center without an IPC providing dialing capability. IPC-based solutions have limitations, since they can only be used to establish a point-to-point passive connection from the control center side. Contrast these restrictions with the flexibility and freedom provided by Moxa's OnCell G3111/G3151 cellular IP modems, which come with a number of advanced features, including Ethernet modem mode, Reverse Real COM mode, flexible connection mode, and a choice of TCP/IP connections to help you to overcome problems with high-speed transmission.

Ethernet Modem Mode
  Ethernet modem mode, which is designed for use with legacy operating systems which do not support TCP/IP networks such as AT-command, can dramatically simplify the integration of legacy devices into your cellular network. Connecting a properly configured OnCell G3111 or G3151 port to the legacy device's serial port allows you to use legacy software to transmit data over the cellular network, even though the software was originally designed to transmit data over a modem. This is accomplished by converting dialed AT commands into the IP format.
Reverse Real COM Mode
  When the connection between the host and your serial device is disconnected because of a frequently changing private IP address, "Reverse Real COM mode" can be used to establish a transparent connection from the serial device to the host side. This is achieved by mapping the serial port to a local COM port on the host computer.
Flexible Connection Mode
  The OnCell G3111/G3151 IP modem provides three types of connection mode for GSM/GPRS: Always ON, Inactivity Timeout, and Remote Host Recovered, providing users with greater versatility, and helping to reduce the total operational cost.
Standard TCP/IP Architecture
  The OnCell G3111/G3151 IP modem comes with a full TCP/IP architecture to make it easy to connect to the cellular network. There are three modes that are supported: TCP Server, TCP Client, and UDP. Whichever mode is used, once a connection is established, the two sides of the connection can both send and receive data.

Moxa's industrial cellular IP modems, the OnCell G3111 and the OnCell G3151, are the most advanced, secure, and versatile products of this type available. Both products provide remote access, support TCP/IP, can be configured over the network, and can be used for applications that require remote access to devices at outdoor sites, such as offshore, mountainside, rooftop, or highway locations, where it is difficult or even impossible to install land lines.
