Controller-based Turbo Roaming Enables Highly Available
Layer 2/3 CBTC Networks

For CBTC networks, maintaining communication link availability is extremely important in order to guarantee operational safety and efficiency. In high speed environments, when a train moves away from the coverage of one AP and enters the domain of another AP, a handoff procedure occurs that may take up to several hundreds of milliseconds and cause long latency. To overcome slow handoffs on CBTC networks, Moxa provides controller-based Turbo Roaming technology that is enabled by the WAC wireless access controller. When roaming to the next available AP, the client can be pre-authenticated by the WAC, which reduces the need for re-authentication and keeps the switch-over time at the millisecond level.

ACC (Auto Carriage Connection) Technology Automatically Creates Flexible Inter-Carriage Wireless Links

ACC (Auto Carriage Connection) makes inter-carriage network links easier than ever before to set up and maintain. Train consists frequently change during daily service. In response, Moxa provides ACC (Auto Carriage Connection) technology that is designed specifically to enable flexible carriage-to-carriage connections. ACC works by automating the previously manual process of creating new wireless bridges that provide broadband communications throughout the entire train, while still maintaing robust network security. ACC is also available in the 802.11n AWK-RCC series, which can handle any bandwidth-heavy media streaming application. With ACC, rail operators can reduce manual work and the associated errors, all without modifying their systems.
