One Computer to Connect All Your Devices

The adoption of the IIoT has increased and so has the demand to connect hundreds and thousands of devices to the industrial automation systems. The DA-720 series computers are high-performance industrial-grade x86 platforms built for the heavy data processing needs of the IIoT. These computers are built around an lntel 6th Gen Skylake processor clocked at up to 2.6 GHz and come in an 19-inch 2U rack-mountable case. Provided with high I/O density that can support up to 22 gigabit Ethernet ports plus 10 RS-232/422/485 serial ports, or 14 gigabit Ethernet ports and 18 RS-232/422/485 serial ports, the DA-720 is ideal for heavy data processing, protocol conversion, and remote monitoring in power substations, railway, factory, and building automation applications.

Key Features

Applications

Power Automation

A substation requires powerful front-end controllers in its power SCADA system to perform data acquisition, protocol conversion, and remote supervision and control, especially in an IEC-61850 substation. Moxa's DA-720 is an IEC-61850-3, EN 60255, and IEEE 1613 compliant computer that is ideal for substation automation. Its can reduce the front-end workload of the power SCADA systems with its powerful performance. The expandable serial interfaces on the DA-720 can facilitate connectivity with legacy IEDs and meters while the multiple gigabit Ethernet ports help to connect Ethernet-ready intelligent devices to the substation network. The DA-720 also provides PRP/HSR support to establish high network availability in your substation network.

Rail Automation

Station integrated supervisory control systems (ISCS) and wayside control and monitoring systems require a powerful front-end processor to control the local SCADA as well as the traction power substation and relay house. The DA-720 computer with its compliance with EN 50121-4 standards ensures stable and reliable system operation in rail applications. DA-720’s expandable serial interfaces and 14 gigabit Ethernet ports facilitate the integration of station subsystems, including AFC, PAS, PSD, and FAS, into a single platform. You can also use the computer to integrate disaster prevention, traction power, and signaling, and safety systems into rail wayside applications to provide an integrated view of your Smart Rail system.

Factory and Building Automation

A facility management and control system (FMCS) typically consists of gas insulated switchgear (GIS), environmental control and monitoring applications for energy monitoring, UPS control, water treatment, and HVAC, as well as device control applications that control dry pumps and local scrubbers. A high-performance computing platform is needed to collect, monitor, and analyze such a large volume of diverse data as well as convert between different data protocols. Moxa’s DA-720 computer eases device integration by providing a high density of serial and gigabit-Ethernet ports. In addition, its fanless design ensures that it continues to deliver high-quality performance even inside dusty shop floors. EMC level 4 compliance protects the computer against electromagnetic interference from other equipment, such as motors, in its vicinity.
