Deploy Your I/O Data to the Cloud,
Quickly and Securely

With more and more field devices being connected to the industrial IoT (Internet of Things), the need to keep all those “things” continuously connected to the Internet has put a premium on network devices that can stay connected, without needing an IT engineer to reboot the devices when they crash unexpectedly. Although data is the most important aspect of any I/O application, before the data can be used, it must be extracted from all sorts of industrial sensors and devices. This is often a cumbersome and time-consuming task, not to mention a drain on engineering resources. Moxa’s ioThinx 4500 Series products are IIoT-ready modular controllers and I/Os that feature programmable language capability, cloud connectivity, high computing power for precision control, and system-wide cybersecurity. ioThinx products are designed to help your IIoT applications deploy I/O data to the cloud, quickly and securely.

Device-level Security

User Authentication

Verify user identification when logging in to a device.

  1. Three levels of account types
    • Administrator
    • Operator
    • User
  2. Session management
  3. Alphanumeric password management
  4. MQTT over TLS 1.2

Data Integrity & Confidentiality

Encrypt connections to devices for configuration and management.

  1. Web service over HTTPS for device configuration
  2. All IT protocols support data encryption, including:
    • Restful API over HTTPS
    • SNMPv3 (supports SHA256)

Network Access Control & Authentication

Verify which devices are permitted to access the network and communicate with other devices.

  1. IP based whitelist
  2. Network port protection
  3. Service disabled by default

Vulnerability Management

A well-defined process for device suppliers to respond to reported vulnerabilities.

Secure Data Transmission Increases Air Traffic Management Safety

Air Traffic Management (ATM) involves the combination of the airborne and ground-based functions required to ensure the safe and efficient movement of aircraft during all phases of operation. In different phases of operation, many different facilities and devices need to communicate. By deploying remote I/O products with SNMP Trap at airport field sites, operators can acquire a wide range of information, including real-time serial, digital, and analog data related to runway lights, tower beacon lights, and navigation aids. Alarms can then be transmitted in real time to the control center for air traffic control purposes.
