Moxa Takes the Initiative to Meet Europe's RoHS Directive

According to Directive 2202/95/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of January 27, 2003, the "Restriction on Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment" (RoHS) directive will be effective starting July 1, 2006.

The RoHS directive requires that electrical and electronic equipment does not contain lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent, chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).

  1. Moxa's ultimate design and manufacturing objective is to comply with the RoHS directive.
  2. In September of 2004, Moxa completed a separate lead-free manufacturing process that can be used to manufacture RoHS-compliant products.
  3. In November of 2004, Moxa completed RoHS compliant product studies, and gained the knowledge needed to design RoHS-compliant products.
  4. Moxa will phase in RoHS-compliant products, starting from Q3 of 2005.
