Taipei, Taiwan, March 17 , 2010—Moxa is pleased to announce the release of the IMC-P101 series of UL508-certified industrial PoE media converters. The IMC-P101 series not only offers a long distance Ethernet-to-Fiber communications solution, but adds Power over Ethernet functionality to reduce cabling costs and setup times.

The IMC-P101 series provides IEEE 802.3af PoE Ethernet-to-fiber media conversion from 10/100BaseT(X) to 100BaseFX(SC/ST) in a -40 to 75°C operating temperature range designed for harsh environments. These converters pull double duty as power source equipment (PSE), and when used in this way provide up to 15.4 watts of power to IEEE 802.3af compliant powered devices (PDs) over unshielded twisted pair cables. These features both eliminate the need for additional wiring and offer maximum installation flexibility.

Most media converters support link fault pass-through functionality to ensure reliable Ethernet communications and minimize the potential losses of link failure. Moreover, Moxa's IMC-P101 series features a Power Remote Reset (PRR) function that prevents downtime and data loss by enabling a continuous flow of power to connected devices even when link failure or there are power issues at a higher level of the network.

The IMC-P101 converters support IEEE 802.3/802.3u/802.3x with 10/100M, full/half-duplex, and MDI/ MDI-X auto-sensing, providing a complete and versatile solution for your industrial Ethernet network.
