Compact video encoder from Moxa enables IP video surveillance
at full D1 resolution

Taipei, Taiwan, Apr. 30, 2008 --- Moxa has released the VPort 251, a compact video encoder that converts analog camera signals into an MJPEG/MPEG4 video stream at full D1 resolution (720 X 480 for NTSC, 720 X 576 for PAL) and up to 30 FPS. It features a small form factor that can be mounted to a wall, panel, or DIN-Rail.

The VPort 251's hardware features are specially designed for IP video surveillance applications. A BNC video connector allows the connection of any analog video source. Video signals are digitized and compressed using the MJPEG or MPEG4 codec and can be streamed anywhere on the network through the VPort's 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port. Analog cameras can be powered directly from the VPort 251 using its built-in loop-through power output, and PTZ cameras can be controlled through the VPort's RS-232/422/485 interface. The VPort's transparent PTZ function allows cameras to be controlled remotely over the network without requiring any new hardware or software.

Other features include motion detection, alarms for signal loss, alarm-triggered snapshots, 2-way audio over the network, RSTP (real-time streaming protocol), and QoS to ensure high network priority for video data.
