NPort 6000 Series of Secure Serial Servers Make Your Serial-to-Ethernet Connection Safe

Taipei, Taiwan, August 21, 2006 early August, MOXA introduced its newest series of serial port servers. One of the most important features of the NPort 6000 serial servers is that you can make your serial-to-Ethernet connection secure quickly and easily.

"Security is the big trend for all data transmission products," said Jackie Shi, manager of MOXA's Device Networking business unit. "The NPort 6000 series provides the most comprehensive data encryption solution available by supporting DES/3DES/AES hardware encryption and the standard SSHv2 and SSL encryption protocols."

On the hardware side, the NPort 6000 serial servers have a built-in 64 KB port buffer that is used to store data when the serial connection is temporarily inaccessible. But that's not the end of the story. If 64 KB is not enough, users have the option to increase the size of the port buffer by inserting an SD card in the NPort 6000's expansion slot (2-, 4-, 8-, and 16-port models). The NPort 6000 serial servers are also equipped with an LCD console (liquid crystal screen plus basic keypad) on the server's casing for easy, on-site configuration (4-, 8-, and 16-port models). To prevent tampering, the serial server's software utility can be used to lock and unlock the LCD console.

The release of the 1-port NPort 6150 gives customers a truly complete offering of 1-port serial port servers. The NPort 5110/5130/5150 device servers are great for general purpose applications, the rugged NPort IA series is ideal for harsh, industrial environments, the wireless NPort W2150 is a handy serial server to use when wiring is difficult or impossible, and now the secure NPort 6150 is available when secure data transmission is a must.
