When Moxa was first established, its five founders were determined to create a “truly employee-owned company.” Our goal was to build an organization that prioritized long-term value, centered around its employees, and encouraged participation, shared ownership, and belonging. Bearing this in mind, Moxa has been fostering a people-centric workplace for 36 years. In 2023, we were honored as the 2023 Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces® and recognized as HR Asia’s Best Companies to Work for in Asia.
Putting People First and Emphasizing Employee Growth
- Flexible Working Hours, the 3-2 Campaign
Our flexible system helps employees cope with unexpected situations in their lives, promotes work-life coordination, and fosters a healthier workplace. Starting from 2022, we have expanded the flexible working hours from 8 to 10 am to 7 to 11 am to meet the daily life needs of our colleagues. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, we swiftly enacted a “Work from Home” policy, prioritizing the well-being of our employees. As the pandemic eased, we adopted a hybrid work model, with employees working in the office three days a week and remotely for two days. Moxa’s trust in its employees is evident through this measure, which balances face-to-face communication with autonomy for effective collaboration.
- Diverse Career Development Approaches
Moxa ensures that employees have ample career development options, including professional and managerial roles, that align with their individual characteristics and aspirations. In 2023, we launched a new Career Framework encompassing eight career fields, enabling employees to define their roles and align with the company goals and their individual aspirations.
Encouraging Participation, Listening to Employees' Voices, and Creating a Sense of Belonging
- Global People Voice Survey
We frequently collaborate with independent research firms to conduct global surveys, ensuring anonymous feedback from our employees, listening sincerely to their feedback, sharing the results transparently, and implementing proactive improvement. With a participation rate of 90%, the 2022 global people voice survey effectively captured the true state of the work environments and showed the high level of trust employees have in the company. We provide employees with transparent survey results and commit to implementing improvements. Through open communication, employees have the right and opportunity to shape the company’s future while providing valuable advice to management teams for a better working environment.
- Corporate Culture Activities
Moxa has established a dedicated department responsible for planning and executing a diverse platform of company activities to foster a strong sense of community and belonging among its employees. Every year, we host various sports events, a family day, and year-end parties to foster employee camaraderie. We highly value ongoing engagement in the workplace. Furthermore, employees have created many clubs, like badminton, basketball, swimming, yoga, flower painting, and meditation, to encourage interaction and teamwork across departments.
- A Diversified, Inclusive, and Friendly Workplace
Mutual respect holds great importance for Moxa as a core value. Our employees are encouraged to respect differences, accept mistakes resulting from trial and innovation, and learn from their experiences. Moreover, Moxa actively fosters a workplace culture that embraces diversity, equality, and inclusiveness. For example, we have updated the definition of spouse in corporate cultural activities to include "close partners", reflecting a more inclusive approach to employee family members. Moxa’s recognition with the HR Asia’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award in 2023 demonstrates our commitment to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion.
Exercising Influence and Fulfilling Corporate Responsibility
Talent shortage and sustainable development present a global challenge. From the very beginning, Moxa has understood the value of fostering talents. As a result, we turned to Major League Baseball (MLB) to formulate recruitment regulations for the “Talent Development Program” to cultivate our business departments. In 2023, we expanded our recruitment mechanism to include seven additional job categories through the launch of our “Talent Farming System.” Our focus is on developing exceptional industrial talents and expanding into new international markets, using Taiwan as our foundation. This move boosts Moxa’s talent competitiveness in the industry and rejuvenates Taiwan’s industrial communication industry.
In 2003, the Moxa Foundation was established to embody the principles of being 'people-oriented' and 'heart-warming' while promoting employee volunteerism. Besides promoting employee participation in volunteer services for community development, we prioritize education, environmental awareness, and support for children in remote areas. Employees who take part in volunteer service receive four days of paid leave annually, along with free transportation, and will be commended for their active involvement. We bring together employees’ unique strengths to enhance the environment, foster unity, and educate others on societal and environmental responsibility.
