Multiple product vulnerabilities were identified in Moxa’s MGate MB3180/MB3280/MB3480 Series. In response to this, Moxa has developed related solutions to address these vulnerabilities.

The identified vulnerability types and potential impacts are shown below:

CVE-2021-33823		 An attacker could perform a denial-of-service attack by flooding the device with packets and exhausting the web servers’ resources.
2 Denial-of-service attack
CVE-2021-33824		 An attacker could perform a denial-of-service attack by sending incomplete packets to exhaust the web servers’ resources.

 

AFFECTED PRODUCTS AND SOLUTIONS

Affected Products:

The affected products and firmware versions are shown below.

MGate MB3280 Series Firmware Version 4.1 or lower
MGate MB3480 Series Firmware Version 3.2 or lower

 

Solutions:

Moxa has developed appropriate solutions to address the vulnerabilities. The solutions for affected products are shown below.

MGate MB3480 Series		 To mitigate this issue, enable the ‘Accessible IP’ function to provide an allow list for the connected devices.
Alternatively, add a router/firewall with rate limit or allow list functionality enabled between the MGate devices and the public network.
