Moxa Partners With Power Industry for a Net-zero Energy Future

Share

A key step toward a sustainable energy transition

With the global shift to net-zero emissions and energy transition, the increasing share of renewable energy and the threats from extreme climate events underscore the need for robust grid resilience and stable power supplies for sustainable change.

To tackle these challenges, Moxa partnered with the Taiwan Smart Grid Industry Association, Taiwan Power Company (Taipower), and the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (TIER). Together, they co-hosted the 2025 Asia-Pacific Power Summit, establishing a cross-national and cross-industry dialogue forum centered on smart grids, energy digitalization, and the integration of renewable energy.

Over 250 individuals attended the summit, representing various sectors from the Asia-Pacific area, such as power utilities, system integrators, energy firms, and research bodies. The Tokyo Electric Power Company, Kansai Electric Power Company, Korea Electric Power Corporation, Taiwan Power Company, Indonesia Power, and Australia’s Endeavour Energy were among the participants, along with research bodies like the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and Salt River Project (SRP).

Moxa leveraged its industrial communication expertise to connect power utilities, energy firms, and system integrators, promoting information sharing and cross-sector cooperation. With this initiative, Moxa plans to help build a stronger foundation for sustainable energy development across the Asia-Pacific region.

Moxa’s Role in the Future Grid

1. Enhancing Grid Resilience and the Energy Supply-Demand Balance

Power systems face increased volatility and uncertainty because of the growing share of renewables and decentralized generation. A major hurdle for future grids will be ensuring supply stability and system security as they move towards decarbonization. For energy transition and security to be supported, smart grids must possess high resilience, automation, and real-time responsiveness.

Moxa provides secure and dependable industrial networking and communication solutions that enable power utilities to construct grid communication architectures for real-time monitoring and control. Load management, anomaly detection, and coordination of distributed energy resources are supported by these solutions. This improves system responsiveness and grid resilience, while also addressing risks from increased renewable energy integration.

2. Enabling Renewable Energy Integration and Energy Market Operations

Beyond the technical challenges, the large-scale integration of renewable energy also involves market mechanisms, energy storage deployment, and cross-system coordination. For the energy transition to succeed, it’s crucial to combine solar, wind, storage, and demand-side resources, while also allowing for green power trading and flexible dispatches.

Moxa helps build communication and data infrastructure vital for distributed energy resources and energy storage systems. By enabling secure and reliable real-time data exchanges among energy management systems (EMS), microgrids, and electricity market platforms, Moxa facilitates renewable energy dispatches, demand responses, and green power trading, enabling the optimal allocation of energy resources.

3. Advancing International Collaboration and the Digital Grid Ecosystem

Grid transformation is a collaborative, cross-national, cross-industry effort spanning power systems, ICT, cybersecurity, policy, and industry governance. To reduce transition risks and speed up technology development and standardization, international collaboration and knowledge exchange are crucial.

At the 2025 Asia-Pacific Power Summit, Moxa facilitated international dialogue among power utilities, research institutions, and technology partners. Moxa’s expertise in critical infrastructure communications and cybersecurity helps industry partners achieve improved efficiency, security, and reliability in grid digitalization, supporting the development of a more resilient and sustainable energy ecosystem.
