QUESTION

Ignition Edge is very sluggish on the UC series Computers. How do I improve its performance?

The UC-8100A-ME-T (UC-8112A) and UC-3100 Series are powered by a single-core Arm processor that is optimized for light computing and data processing. On these units, allow some time (approximately 10 minutes) for Ignition Edge to finish loading. If you intend to use more than 1000 tags or work with Ignition’s visualization features, the UC-8200 Series or one of our x86 computers is more suitable.

SOLUTION

Your computer may be running Moxa ThingsPro software, which provides a GUI to common hardware configuration options including network and wireless settings. To increase the performance and reduce the load on your Arm-based edge computer, you can disable ThingsPro Software. There are currently two variants of ThingsPro software, namely:

ThingsPro Gateway Original legacy version of ThingsPro
ThingsPro Edge New next-gen version of ThingsPro

Both these software can be disabled on your computer by running a CLI command in Linux.

To stop the ThingsPro Gateway software, run the command:

     mx-tp-ctl -e 0

To stop the ThingsPro Edge software, run the command:

     systemctl stop system-agent
