QUESTION

How do I use a SNMP MIB browser to monitor the status of all NPorts in a network?

The MIB browser is installed on a host computer in the network.

SOLUTION

To use the iReasoning MIB Browser on the host computer to monitor an NPort device on the same network, do the following:

  1. Open the MIB browser and click on the File tab. Select Load MIBs.

  4. Select the OID (Object Identifier) of interest.

You can use the RFC1213 MIB to get the total number of octets transmitted out of/received on the interface, the connection status, and the connected IP addresses.
    • The transmit and receive OIDs are available at:

      Interface > ifTable > ifEntry > ifInOctets/ifOutOctets
      (OID:.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10/.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.16)

    • The connection status and connected IP address OID is available at:

      tcp > tcpConn Table > tcpConnEntry > tcpConnState (OID:.1.3.6.1.2.1.6.13.1.1).
