Multiple product vulnerabilities were identified in Moxa’s EDR-810 Series secure router. In response to this, Moxa has developed related solutions to address these vulnerabilities.

The identified vulnerability types and potential impacts are shown below:

Item Vulnerability Type Impact
1 Use of a broken or risky cryptographic algorithm Using a weak cryptographic algorithm may allow confidential information to be disclosed.
2 Stack-based Buffer Overflow An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to perform remote code execution without being verified.
3 Improper neutralization of special elements used in an OS Command An attacker who is authenticated as a user with low privileges can exploit a vulnerability and send multiple remote command injections.
4 Use of a hard-coded cryptographic key Using a hard-coded cryptographic key may increase the possibility that confidential data can be recovered.

Moxa has developed appropriate solutions to address the vulnerabilities. The solutions for affected products are shown below.

  • For item 1, Moxa suggests users enable password on ‘configuration file encryption setting’ to enhance the security of the EDR-810 Series.
  • For items 2, 3, and 4, please contact Moxa Technical Support for a security patch.
