Moxa to launch new solutions for city surveillance and building monitoring at SecuTech 2009

Taipei, Taiwan, Apr 14, 2009— Moxa will be participating in the 2009 SecuTech exhibition in Nangang, Taipei from April 22–24, 2009. SecuTech is the largest security exposition in Asia for leading security manufacturers to demonstrate their latest technologies. During this three-day event, Moxa will demonstrate its newest offerings for city surveillance and building monitoring at booth M919–922 in Nangang Hall.

City surveillance
Public security has become one of the key issues of the 21st century, and local event alarms and video recording have been widely adopted for remote monitoring systems. However, city monitoring systems are highly distributed and involve many pieces of equipment. Efficient event reaction, synchronous communications, and integrating all data and video into one network without sacrificing communications efficiency are huge challenges encountered in city surveillance applications.

By replacing traditional polling methods (that occupy large amounts of network bandwidth and delay event messages) with its characteristic "active" technology, Moxa's ioLogik Active Ethernet I/O provides users with reliable, efficient, and real-time remote monitoring capabilities. Not only are alarms triggered according to sensor inputs to substantially reduce the occurrence of false alarms, but active reports can also be sent over a wireless network by connecting your ioLogik device to an AWK-4121 outdoor wireless AP.

Building monitoring
Building administrators and security guards are normally responsible for a building's security. However, managing specific equipment and amenities such as air-conditioning, elevators, sensors, and water storage tanks may be beyond their professional know-how. Incorporating video surveillance into a SCADA system provides system administrators with visual management capabilities to improve judgment and response times. It records the activities of field engineers maintaining the field equipments and devices, including the event of a security breach or sabotage by unauthorized personnel.

Due to advancements in IP-based automation technology, modern buildings are incorporating IP video surveillance into their centralized building automated management systems to save manpower and resources. As a result, building monitoring systems are increasingly turning to rugged IP video surveillance systems to strengthen security, safety, and intrusion protection for building facilities.

Moxa offers complete solutions from network infrastructure to field site monitoring. In addition to solutions for city surveillance and building monitoring, Moxa will be introducing new products including the EDS-P510 PoE switches, NPort S8000 combo switch/device server, ICF-1150 3-way fiber converter, UC-8410 fanless embedded computer with rich communication interface, and OnCell 5004 quad-band cellular router. With so many debuts of developments in security technology, you won't want to miss all the innovative products and solutions at this year's SecuTech.
