The TLS client initiated renegotiation issue (CVE-2011-1473) is a design characteristic of the TLS protocol and is classified as a "DISPUTED" vulnerability in the National Vulnerability Database (NVD). It is not product-specific implementation flaw. Under certain conditions, the TLS protocol behavior could be abused to launch a denial-of-service (DoS) attack. However, the TLS client behaviour does not affect the confidentiality or integrity of data. Based on Moxa's risk assessment, the practical exploitability is considered low when the product is deployed within the recommended network-segmented architecture. To align with current security best practices and further reduce residual risk, support for client-initiated TLS renegotiation has been disabled in this release to strengthen the product's security.
As this issue is assessed as low risk, users may evaluate their environments and decide if security updates are required.
